Hazel Lee Horton, 75, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 30, 2007. She was born October, 17, 1931 to the late Roosevelt and Eloise Coleman in Charleston, West Virginia. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Franklin Horton, Jr., a daughter, Mabel Harris, a grandson, Lawrence Coleman and a brother, Roosevelt Coleman, Jr.
Hazel attended Plumtree School in Bumpass, was a member of Mt. Garland Baptist Church and retired from VEPCO (Burns Security) after many years.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Franklin Horton, Sr., three daughters, Irish Johnson (James), Chanda Brown (Curtis)and Mona Nelson (Tony); six sons, Alvernes Coleman (Beth), Marv Horton (Lesley), Timothy Horton, Robert Horton, Gregory Horton (Patsy) and SSG Franklin Kenny; two brothers, Clarence Thomas and Lawrence Coleman, 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Gladys May Isaac, Alma Mickens and Wilma Coleman; one brother-in-law, Herbert Horton, Jr.; a number of devoted friends and special friends, Alice Johnson, Hazel Houchens, Gladys May Issac and Mary Kenny.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2007 at Thomasson Watson Funeral Chapel, Louisa.
The funeral services will be at held 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Mt. Garland Baptist Church 4000 Buckner Road Bumpass, Virginia 23024. The interment will be in the church cemetery with Rev. Floyd Roane officiating.
