Hannah Lee Grooms entered her eternal rest on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the University of Virginia Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Frank & Carrie Burruss Grooms and John & Ethel Grooms Minor.
Hannah accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was a member of the Foster Creek Baptist Church, Louisa, Virginia. She served on the Senior Choir, Gospel Ensemble, Missionary Board, and Willing Workers. She was a faithful member and loved her church and church family. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Frances Johnson, a brother, Shelton Grooms and a sister, Windell Hackney.
Hannah was educated in the Louisa County Public School System. She worked for General Electric for 37 years and was very dedicated until her retirement. She had a great love for her family, a beautiful smile, was very kind, compassionate and loved dining out at Red Lobster and Wood Grille.
Hannah is survived by one son, Cornell Johnson (Nancy) of Troy, Virginia; two daughters, Ethel Williams of Louisa, Virginia and Dale Lindsay (Jerome) of Troy, Virginia; one grandson, Brandon Johnson (LaToya); four granddaughters, Krista Johnson, Natosha Lindsay, Brooke Williams and Ebony Lindsay; five great-grandchildren, D'Naisha Lindsay, Elijah Wilson-Johnson, Isaiah Harper, Kaleb Hill and Leonna Johnson; three brothers, Frank Grooms, Jr. (Ricky), Carl Grooms (Millie) and Willie Mason (Dorothy); three sisters, Julia Thurston (Eugene), Mary Frances Henderson and Lucy Epps; a devoted friend, Rosie Burruss; three uncles, two aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2013 at Foster Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael R. Crawley, Jr., Pastor & Officiating Minister. Interment will follow in the Grooms Family Cemetery.
