Gloria C. Hill departed this life on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA.
Gloria was born in Louisa, Virginia on August 27, 1926 to the late Henry W. and Mary Louise Robinson Crawford. Gloria was the youngest of seven siblings, all of whom preceded her to glory.
Gloria joined the First Baptist Church in Louisa, at an early age under the pastorate of Rev. B. D. Ellis. She remained a life long active member where she served as bulletin editor for over forty years; she was a member of the budget committee and labored long on the hospitality committee.
Gloria graduated from The Louisa Training School in 1944. She also graduated from Virginia State University receiving her teaching credentials. Her tenure as a teacher and librarian in Louisa County's school system spanned thirty-eight years until her retirement in June of 1985.
Gloria was united in wedlock to Frank E. Hill on December 16, 1951 and they remained steadfast until Frank preceded her to heaven on March 23, 2012. Now they are together again.
From this union she is survived by their daughter, Brenda Hill Fortune and her husband Mark; two grandsons, Charles Durrette and Anthony Durrette and one great-grandson, Jayden Rayne Robinson. Also left to mourn her passing is one sister-in-law, Brenda Shelton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. Thank God, we can also celebrate her life.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm Saturday, June 23, 2012 at First Baptist Church, 102 Meadows Ave Louisa, Va. Interment will follow in the Bright Hope Baptist Church cemetery.
