Gladys Marie Adams, peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on October 28, 2022 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation in Culpeper, Virginia.

Gladys was baptized at Laurel Hill Baptist Church and was educated in the Louisa County School system. She was the first girl born after five boys to David and Alice and was a daddy's girl for sure! In 1957, Gladys met Ryland Adams and fell in love. They married the same year and from this union two daughters were born, Janice Faye and Lyndia Marie. They decided to spread their wings for a better life and moved to Washington, D.C., Chester, PA and then settled in Clayton, NJ.

Gladys decided she wanted to be her own boss and started a seafood restaurant in Chester, PA called Gladys Seafood Place! She was known for having the best tasting crab cakes and fish in town! She was truly well loved by the community she served so much that she was able to open a second restaurant and trained her brother Monroe to operate it. She was a hard working woman who often worked seven days a week to make sure her family had the things they needed.

Gladys, affectionately called, Maggie, Mrs A, Nana, Grandma, ma, mom and mommie by family and friends had a zest for life! She enjoyed seafood of course, shopping, yard saleing, fishing, watching baseball and wrestling, playing bid-wist, traveling, bingo and talking about how good God is and how much He has blessed her! She loved her grandchildren, great-grand children and most recently her great-great grandson! They brought her so much joy and happiness to her life that she wanted them to stay with her all the time!

Gladys was born on August 27, 1937 to the late David Buckner and Alice Neal Houston Buckner in Mineral, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ryland Hayes Adams; her daughter, Janice Faye Adams; eight brothers, Phillip Buckner, Monroe Buckner, Richard Buckner, David Buckner, jr, Thomas Buckner, Johnny Buckner, Wilson Buckner and Frank Buckner.

She is survived by her daughter. Lyndia Porter (Ernest) of Louisa, VA, brother Charles Buckner of Washington, DC, and James Buckner of Louisa, VA, sisters Christine Whittaker of Chester, PA, Ruth Shelton (Curtis) of Mineral, VA and Janice Shelton (William) of Mineral, VA, two granddaughters, Tiffany Anderson (Jason) of Louisa, VA and Symone Early of Richmond, VA: four great grand children, Tahkyrah Cook, Hayes Adams, Jakoby Anderson and Khalani Anderson and one great great grandson Khire Whitehead all of Louisa, VA and a host of relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 4-6 p.m. in The Sun Chapel at D. D. Watson Funeral Home in Louisa.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Rising Sun Baptist Church 6829 Fredericks Hall Road Mineral, Virginia with Rev. Walter Pleasants, Jr., officiating. Interment will be at the Buckner Family burial ground.
