Our Heavenly Father called home our beloved Gilbert D. Jackson on Saturday, April 22, 2023. He was born on November 10, 1931 in Fluvanna County, Kent's Store, Virginia to the late Dennis and Viola Jackson.

His kind and generous spirit touched so many lives and he cherished his relationships with family and friends, always taking the time to call or visit, which was always filled with laughter. Gilbert was always willing to volunteer his time and talents to those in need.

Gilbert was a graduate of S.C. Abrams High School and joined the Byrd Grove Baptist church at an early age. He supported his church through countless deeds and served as a member on the Board of Trustees.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1955 achieving the rank of Airman First Class. He returned home after his service and married Christine Hackney on April 12, 1958. They shared 64 years of marriage, raising a family filled with love and laughter.

He was a skilled saw-miller early in his career, an employee of the University of Virginia Hospital, the Forest Hill Painting Company and later became an accomplished self-employed painting contractor, providing years of exceptional work, painting churches, multiple buildings and homes in the community.

He loved watching college basketball, major league baseball, gardening and working in his workshop with all kinds of tools and equipment. Gilbert was a skilled craftsman and knowledgeable about almost anything when it came to being a handyman.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife Christine H. Jackson, his sisters Christine Winston, Evelyn Jackson, Margaret Bruce and Helen Hubert.

He leaves to cherish his life his devoted son Kenneth G. Jackson, devoted daughter Lisa and son-in-law Anthony G. Scott all of Kent's Store, his grandchildren, Monique K. Jackson, Devohn L. Scott of Kent's Store, Jasmine S. Jackson of Louisa, Terrell A. Scott and girlfriend Victoria Nixon of Kent's Store, VA, his great grandchildren Aubrey M. Henson and Joseph D. Henson of Louisa and Jayden A. Jackson of Kent's Store, his sister Thelma L. Jackson of Kent's Store and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2023 in The Sun Chapel at the D.D. Watson, Louisa. There will be a viewing on Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 4-7 p.m.

Interment with military honors will follow in the Byrd Grove Baptist Church Cemetery at 2365 Cedar Lane Rd, Kent's Store Rd, Kent's Store, Virginia 23084
