George "Junnie Bug" Sawyer was born on April 14, 1970, the only son of Gerleen Shelton Sawyer and the late George Sawyer, Sr. George transitioned from his earthly home on September 21, 2024.
George accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized and joined with the membership of the Rising Sun Baptist Church. He was a 1989 graduate of Louisa County High School.
George was a sincere Commanders fan, and he was one who kept you laughing. "Junnie Bug" was fun to be around. He enjoyed watching old TV shows such as, The Heat of the Night, Good Times, and Walker, Texas Ranger. He had a passion for Go-Go and Neo Soul music.
George was employed at Lexus Nexus law books for ten years, until they closed. He then went to Klearfold until it went out of business. After a decline in his health, he became a taxicab for all. Bug had loving relationship with his mother: he cherished her, and she was his heart. When Shawn said no or would not answer, Bug knew to call his devoted and caring cousin, Twiggy or his best friend, his Uncle Ray Shelton. Bug will be missed by us all.
"Junnie Bug" was preceded in death by his father: George Sawyer, Sr.; his grandparents: Jordan and Bertha Shelton and Leroy Sawyer, Sr. and Elsie Henson Sawyer; a cousin/brother: John "Turtle" Shelton; a special uncle: James "Man" Sawyer; special cousin: Timothy "Timmy" Shelton: and a mass of other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Left to continue this journey and to cherish George's precious memories are his mother: Gerleen Sawyer; his daughter: Amber Sawyer; two sisters: Lolita Jackson (Terry) and Connie Rae Brooks; one niece: Layrun Jackson; two nephews: Terry Jackson and Kofi Brooks; one goddaughter: KeiAjha Shelton; five aunts: Jesse Hayden; Clydenia, Clarissa, and Fannie Shelton, and his devoted and special aunt "Aunt Kat" Bertha Harris (Roy); uncles: Leroy (Sandy) Sawyer, Joseph (Louise) Sawyer; Linwood (Lolita) Sawyer, devoted uncles: Timothy (Emma) Shelton, Walter, Ray, Larry, and Albert Shelton; one great uncle: Harry Scott of New York; three great aunts: Edna Scott of Colorado, Harriett Scott of New York, and Matina Scott of Puerto Rico; cousins who were raised as his siblings: Calvin (Tanya) Shelton, Kimberly Houchens (Darrell), and his special little sister, Shawn Shelton and her family Torrey, KeiAjha, and Torrey, Jr. whom will all miss him greatly.
To the Sawyer family, we at D. D. Watson offer our most sincere sympathy and condolences. Our prayer continues to be that your abiding faith in God will lend a measure of comfort that will strengthen and sustain you during your time of sorrow.
