A Time to Be Born

George Washington Harris, Sr., was born on July 4, 1927 in Louisa County Virginia to the late Deacon Charlie S. and Deaconess Jane Brooks Harris.

A Time to Build

He received his education in the Louisa County Public School System. He retired from the County of Henrico after 40 years of service.

A Time to Serve God

At and early age, he was baptized by Reverend R. J. Robertson. He was a member of the Usher Ministry of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he served for many years.

A Time to Wed

In 1953, George was united in holy marriage to Marian Coles. To this union 5 children were born.

A Time to Unwind

George was a quiet man of few words. He never complained; just took life as things came his way. He was a dedicated Yankees and Cowboys fan, at least until they began to lose.

A Time to Weep

George was preceded in death by three daughters, Gail, Odessa and Cheryl Harris; brothers, James, Sidney, Frank, John Eric and Andrew; sisters, Dorothy Trice and Vernetta Harris; and a nephew, Charles Trice.

He leaves a loving family to cherish his kind, respectful and loving life; his wife, Marian (as of Monday morning at 9:00 AM had been together for 65 years); a daughter, Leatrice Pace (William); a son, George Jr. (Barbara); grandson, Jermaine Pace Sr. (Jackie); granddaughters, Chasity Harris and Jasmine Harris; great grandsons, Jermaine Pace Jr., Jhalil Parrish and Sunta Grimm (Myra); a great daughter, Kali Bundick; his twin brother, Thomas Harris; sisters, Eva Shelton (Vergie) and Nan Johnson; sisters-in-law, Arlean Anderson (Warren), Joyce Holt, Shirley Johnson and Connie Harris; also a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Ebenezer Baptist Church 864 Pendleton Road Mineral, Virginia 23117 with Rev. William House, Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
