Gary Allison Payne "Rabbit" was born November 16, 1960 to Wert (deceased) and Laura Payne in Louisa County, VA. He departed this life on Sunday, December 18, 2016.

Rabbit was ill for "18" months – but he never complained, and simply took one day at a time – trying to always do for himself until the end. We thank God for the seasons he was giving to us!

"Rabbit" graduated from the Louisa County, VA Public Schools System. His career spanned over many choices, but ultimately he spent many years milling and paving. Rabbit loved his family, ESPECIALLY HIS MOMMA – needless to say, he was indeed a Mommas Boy! HE LOVED THOSE COWBOYS TOO!

Rabbit accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined Philippi Christian Church at a very young age. He served on the hospitality committee, where he was the best "Punch" maker, and all around helper in the kitchen.

Cherishing his memory, his only child – Cory Payne, & 7 grandchildren, Corey Jr., Malacke & Zayden Payne, Navayia Johnson, Sayvion, Samyia, Samarion Turner.

…. Two brothers, Ronald Payne (Karen), Kenneth Payne (Cynthia),
Aunt - Edna Clark (Lawrence), Uncle Willie Hayden (Brenda), and Uncles, Harry Brooks, and Roderick Willis.

Rabbit also had an extended family – Brenda Lewis (fiancé) – and children – Quinta, Wade & Shawna Lewis, in addition to the grandchildren – Christopher, Jaquce, Takira, Taniya, Talashia, Makiya, Kamiya, Tamyjah and Talea Lewis.

One God-daughter – Aaliyah Clark and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2016 at Philippi Christian Church 7133 Jefferson Highway Mineral, Virginia 23117 with Rev. Temple Anderson, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
