"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens" Ecclesiates 3:1
Freddie William Blue was born to the late George and Jennie Blue on August 26, 1932 in Fredericks Hall, Virginia.
On the evening of Tuesday, July 16, 2013, in the privacy of the home he shared with his wife, Freddie slipped from time and entered into eternity at the age of 80. His formative years were spent in the Rising Sun community where he began his education in a two room school. Later he transferred to the Louisa Training School. After the completion of grade eleven he graduated. Freddie entered the United States Army and served our country well in the states and in foreign countries. He was honorably discharged after three years of service. Later, he enrolled at Saint Paul's College, Lawrenceville, VA and earned a BS degree and other awards. He began his teaching career in Louisa County, first teaching students in upper grades at the newly erected Z. C. Morton Elementary School and later at the Louisa County High School as Shop teacher. Later the school added Auto Mechanics to its curriculum, hiring Freddie with his avid skills and ability until retirement.
Freddie was joined in wedded bliss to his friend, his life partner, and "wind beneath his wings", Miss Betty Jane Henson.
Freddie accepted Christ as his personal Savior at age 12, was baptized and joined the Rising Sun Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend John L. Tyler. He loved the Lord with all his heart! He also loved his pastors and church family. He devoted himself to the work of the Lord and held many positions – the Sunday School teacher for youth and adults, a supportive member of the Ushers' Ministry, the Treasurer, and various other assignments.
Freddie was predeceased by his parents, his older brothers: Mitchell, Claude, Samuel, and Reuben Blue, and Jesse Jackson; two sisters: Caroline Brice and
Blanche Breaker; three nephews: Charlie, Robert, and Deacon John Brice.
He leaves to cherish his love and memory his beloved and devoted wife of 42 years, Betty Jane Blue; four devoted nieces: Dorothy Chandler, Louise Warden, Blanche, and Tracey Henson; three devoted nephews: Jerry Henson, Joseph Sawyer, and Joseph Blue; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends; and the entire Rising Sun Baptist Church family of which many lives were touched – the young as well as the old.
Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 pm for the processional to the church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013, 3 p.m. at the Rising Sun Baptist Church, Mineral, VA with the Reverend Arthur Lee, pastor officiating, Reverend Frederick Sales, eulogist. Burial with military honors will follow in the Henson Family Cemetery.
