On Sunday, October 16, 2011, God called another soldier home, Fred McKinely Williams, at the age of 80 wonderful years at Henrico Doctors Hospital.
He was born on September 25, 1931 to the late Charlie and Mary Ethel Williams in Buckner, VA. He was the tenth child of his parents.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by four infant brothers, a sister, Martha W. Coleman, a brother, Bert Lewis Williams and a son,Curtis M. Camp.
Fred was educated in the Louisa County Public Schools and worked for several sawmill businesses in the county. He was baptized at an early age and attended Mt. Garland Baptist Church in Bumpass.
Fred was that family horticulture and landscaping person who loved gardening, planting flowers and keeping a manicured lawn just to make sure everything looked just fine.
He is survived by four sisters, Lucille Moody of Bumpass, VA, Mary Perkins of New Jersey, Alice Johnson of Mineral, VA and Addie Medina of Philadelphia, PA; one brother, Marvin Williams of Bumpass, VA; one devoted niece, Mary O. Jackson; three devoted cousins, James Gardner, Clarence Thomas, Sr. and Norris Johnson; two special friends, Charles Shifflet and Sheila Giles; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011, 2 p.m. at Mt. Garland Baptist Church in Bumpass, VA with the Rev. Dr. Charles Haden, officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
