Frank Collie Johnson departed this life peacefully, Monday morning, January 4, 2016, at his residence in Mineral, Virginia. He was one of six children born to the late Collie and Louise Johnson. He was born June 20, 1928 in Louisa County, Virginia. Four brothers predeceased him: Harvey, Leslie, Chancelle, and Richard.
He worked for the Henrico County Highway Department for 40+ years. At an early age, he joined the Philippi Christian Church where he worked faithfully. He loved to sing and read his bible.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted wife of 64 years, Sadie Harris Johnson; one son, Frank A. Johnson (Kecia) of Mineral, Virginia; one sister, Nanny J. Bates of Mineral, Virginia; five sisters-in-law, Shirley Johnson and Florence Pace of Mineral, Virginia, Helen Jones and Malvinia Johnson of Washington, DC, and Laura Evans of Richmond, Virginia; two grandchildren, Teidra Johnson and Cordarryl Johnson of Louisa, Virginia; one great-granddaughter, Emoni Bishop; a devoted godson, John Burnley; a devoted niece, Jenny Nelson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Philippi Christian Church 7133 Jefferson Highway Mineral, VA 23117 with Rev. Harold Sumners officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Grove Memorial Cemetery Mineral, VA.
