IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances M
Johnson
February 14, 1925 – July 15, 2019
Mrs. Frances Mae Johnson, better known as Fannie Mae, departed this life on July 15, 2019 at the Louisa Nursing Home. She was 94 years of age. Fannie Mae was the 20th child of the late John Henry Hughes, Sr., and Martha Jane (known as Jannie). Fannie was born on February 15, 1925 in Buckner, Virginia. God blessed Fannie with four children - two sons and two daughters. God called Sandra home to be with Him in 1963 and her oldest son Norris in 2018.
Fannie received her elementary school training at the Mt. Garland School (grades 1-6) and the Louisa Training School (grades 7-10). She was an excellent cook and was the manager at the L.C. Morton Elementary School for 30 years. She also cooked at the Mt. Garland School and Louisa Training School.
She joined Mt. Garland Baptist Church at an early age. Fannie attended church regularly and joined the Usher Board, sang in the Jr. and Sr. Choirs and later became a Deaconess. She was very active until health problems prevailed.
Left to mourn her loss is her daughter Jacqueline Beatrice Thornton of Louisa, VA; son Bernard Lee Johnson of Beaverdam, VA; eight grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; two sisters: Margaret Davis of Philadelphia, PA and Alma Mason of Louisa, Virginia; also devoted neighbors and friends Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Jackson; and a host of devoted cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Her favorite
great nephew, Thomas, called her "Poochie". We loved you Fannie, but God loved you the most. Rest in peace. Your devoted Family
