The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Florence Beverely Hughes Cheatham departed this life on August 20, 2015 at The Laurels of Willow Creek, Midlothian, VA at the age of ninety four. She was the eleventh child born on April 2, 1921 to her now deceased parents, John Henry Hughes, Sr. and Martha Jane Johnson Hughes (better known as Jannie).  Florence received her education at the Mt. There were two sons born to this union: Marcellus Edward Cheatham, Jr., who went to his heavenly home on November 11, 2011 and Walter Caswell Cheatham. She attended First Baptist Church of Centralia, VA under the leadership of Dr. Samuel Carter and now Dr. E. B. Shannon. She served as a Deaconess, Missionary, on the Ladies Auxiliary Club and was very active until her health began to fail. Florence also joined the Eastern Star Fraternity and was an active member.
