Fannie Beatrice Taliaferro Grooms, peacefully gained her heavenly wings on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, VA surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old.

Fannie was born June 10, 1935, to the late William and Tyola Taliaferro. Fannie is the eldest of nine children and was a lifelong resident of Louisa County, Virginia. Fannie received her early education from the Louisa County Primary School System.

On May 13, 1954, Fannie married Harry Matthew Grooms and had four children. Fannie worked as a domestic worker for many years. She worked for The Van-Yahres and Gunter families until she retired. She had a great love and friendship for these two families and always remained in close contact with them. She enjoyed many visits and phone-calls from both families and was very proud to be considered as a member of their family. Fannie was a wise, independent, hardworking, kindhearted, nurturing and loving person to everyone. To know her, was to love her.

She found peace and strength in God and was baptized at an early age. She was a lifelong member of Springfield Baptist Church. Fannie loved her life and had several hobbies. She loved laughing and talking on the phone daily to her closest friends and family, watching her favorite tv shows, taking care of her cats and feeding her birds. Fannie was a great cook and loved to entertain family and friends. She would always make to-go plates and take food to her neighbors. Some of Fannie's specialties were turnip greens, green beans, sweet potatoes, homemade Rum Cake and homemade wine. Other hobbies included gardening, reading her devotionals, crocheting, playing candy crush and doing crossword puzzles.

Fannie was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Matthew Grooms; parents, William and Tyola Taliaferro; her son, Howard Grooms Sr.; brothers, Raymond (Dickie) Taliaferro and William Henry Taliaferro; sister, Cora Taliaferro, and two besties, Adeline Quarles and Mary Howard.
