Ernest Calvin Scott of Louisa, Virginia, peacefully slipped into eternal life on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 70 years of age. He was born on September 29, 1954, to the late James Samuel Scott and Cora Virginia Scott.
Ernest was preceded in death by his brothers: Steven, Thomas and Teddy Jackson; and Samuel, Wesley and Earl Scott.
Ernest leaves to cherish his memories, his son Michael Scott, daughters Michelle Hunt (Tony), Jennifer Johnson (Paul), one sister Sadie Harris (Robert), one sister-in-law Audrey Scott, grandchildren Darius, D'Shaun, D'Vonte, Denise, Danielle, Joshua and Kayden and two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ernest was a hard worker. Despite what others would allow to hold them back, for 20+ years, he faithfully worked as a grounds and landscaping tech for the University of Virginia. Through his actions over the years, he had shown himself to be a man of integrity and was recognized among the most trustworthy of employees.
Outside the job, Ernest took great satisfaction in raising the bar for the neighbors in keeping a trimmed lawn and beautiful flowers, as long as his health allowed. He always wanted to do it himself and thought no one else could do it as well.
Ernest will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all.
To the Scott family, we at D. D. Watson offer our most sincere sympathy and condolences. Our prayer continues to be that your abiding faith in God will lend to you a measure of comfort that will strengthen and sustain you during your time of sorrow.
It is during such times as these that we draw upon our faith, stand upon our scriptures and rely upon our God. There is no question that in this and through this, God will keep you, comfort you and sustain you. You and your family are forever in our prayers.
