Rev. Ernest Moss, 92, of Bumpass, Virginia passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Born March 15, 1919 in Bumpass, Virginia, he was the son of the late William Moss and the late Fannie Bullock Moss.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Mrs. Hazel J. Moss; daughter Hazel Putty and son-in-law, James Putty of Spotsylvania, VA; son, Erskine B. Moss of Calvert County, MD and daughter Princess R. Moss of Richmond, VA; 4 grandchildren and
many other caring relatives and friends.
Rev. Moss was the former pastor of St. Thomas Baptist Church of Bumpass, VA and St. John Baptist Church of Mineral. He was, also, a retired farmer and school bus driver for Spotsylvania County Public Schools.
A celebration of his life and service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at First New Hope Baptist Church, Partlow, VA. The Reverend Ronald Williams will deliver the eulogy.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
Interment will be in Moss Family Cemetery, Bumpass, VA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of Rev. Ernest Moss to the Spotsylvania County Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mary Washington Hospice, or the First New Hope Baptist Church.
