Deacon Ellis Obrien Hughes, son of the late Obie and Sue Ella Anderson Hughes, was granted rest from all sickness and pain on August 18, 2017 at Louisa Health and Rehabilitation Center, Louisa, VA. He is reunited with his beloved wife of 64 years, Minnie, and his youngest child Ricky. The eldest of ten children, he was also predeceased by brothers, Lenberry, Willie, Sr. and Richard Hughes and sisters Florence Desper, Frances Woodson, Ellen Elizabeth Jackson and Lillie May Torain.
Losing both parents in just four months has left an indescribable pain in the hearts of his children, Michael (Gayle), Ellis (Sadie) and Denise (Tony); but they are comforted knowing that their parents are together again. Also surviving are sister, Beulah Minor (Haywood) and brother Early Hughes; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Hannah Price, Daisy Kenney, Viola Minor and Geraldine Minor and a large number of cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members.
A celebration of life for Deacon Ellis Hughes will begin with visitation on Monday, August 21, 2017 from 6:00-7:00 pm. in the Sun Chapel @ D. D. Watson Louisa; Funeral service on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 1:00 pm at New Line Baptist Church, 4876 New Line Road, Gum Spring,VA 23065.
The eulogy will be delivered by Rev. Henry Truzy and Pastor J. R. Coney will serve as officiant.
