Elizabeth Robinson Thurston departed this life peacefully on September 2, 2015 at the age of 64. Elizabeth was born in Louisa County, VA, on March 11, 1951, to Ellis and Rosabelle Robinson.
Elizabeth attended Louisa County Public Schools. Later in life, she earned her GED from the Henrico Adult Education Center. She also attended Germanna Community College where she matriculated in Nursing, taking courses in Chemistry, Biology, and Algebra, which enabled her to achieve a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) designation and certification.
Elizabeth found Christ at a young age with her siblings. She was a faithful member of the St. John Baptist Church and community. She also faithfully served as a choir member of both St. John and New Site Baptist Church. She also served as a Deaconess, secretary, clerk and founding member of the new St. John Baptist Church.
While being a full-time wife and mother, Elizabeth was employed by many companies, including: Mineral Sewing Plant, Louisa Clothing Manufacturing, Home Health Aide for Home Care, and Mary Washington Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Elizabeth was a vital part of the Mineral community. Always willing to lend a helping hand, she was an enthusiastic member of several organizations, participated in fundraisers and bake sales for many people in need, brought food to the sick and shut-in, and served as a community messenger for those who 'had no voice' regardless of race, gender, or economic status.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 48 years, Mitchell Thurston; her sons (spouse): Harold (Gerri) and Wilbert (Corine); grandchildren: Hunter, Ava, Giselle, and Geryn; brothers and sisters: William Robinson (Isabelle), Gracie Preston (Kenneth), Alfred Robinson (Helen), Ellis Robinson Jr. (Edith), Joe Robinson, Carolyn Coleman (Jerry), Steve Robinson (Linda), Wilbur Robinson (Belinda), Nettie Robinson-Logan (John), and Vernon Robinson (Lisa) and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother, Richard Robinson; mother, Rosabelle Robinson, and father Ellis Robinson.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2015 at St. John Baptist Church, 5482 Zachary Taylor Highway, Mineral, VA 23117 with Rev. Jerry Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
