Eliza Washington Young, 93, of Palmyra, Virginia passed away at Martha Jefferson Hospital on Saturday, March 3, 2012.
She was born in Cumberland County, Virginia on July 15, 1918 to the late Langhorn and Martha Watson Washington.
The family relocated to Fluvanna County where Eliza met her husband, Shedrick Young. From that union came Thelma Young Bates (William) of Palmyra, VA, Francis Young Kinston (Thomas) of Bremo Bluff, VA and Shedrick Young Jr. (Margaret) of Buckingham, VA.
In addition to her parents, Eliza was preceded in death by her husband Shedrick Young, four sisters, two brothers, two children, one sister-in-law and one son in-law. She leaves to cherish her memory, one brother, Irvin Washington of Bremo Bluff and two sisters-in-law, Margaret B. Young and Elizabeth Adams (Herbert) both of Palmyra VA. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eliza was known for her generosity, kindness, cheerful personality and love of singing.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2012 at West Bottom Baptist Church, Bremo Bluff, VA.
