Elaine Dangerfield Sawyer Richardson , departed this life on July 28, 2022, at Louisa Health and Rehabilitation Center, Louisa, VA. She was born on December 20, 1929, to the late Lucinda Jackson Sawyer and Pete Dangerfield in Philadelphia, PA. Elaine was preceded in death by her siblings: three brothers Harry, Henry and George and one sister Kathryn.
Her parents moved to Orange, VA, where she was educated in the public school system. She joined the Shady Grove Baptist Church at an early age. Elaine was employed as a bus driver for the Orange County Public Schools and later the Office Manager for Thomasson Funeral Home until her retirement.
She was married to the late Roy Richardson. They were blessed with three children: Carl, Vincent and Denise. Elaine was a faithful wife, a loving and supportive mother to her children and grandchildren.
Elaine was a faithful servant of her church. She was a dedicated member and officer of the Emma V. Kelly Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, and an Orange County Precinct Election Officer.
She enjoyed spending time with the members of her sewing and quilting clubs and her church culinary friends. She loved watching movies and listening to music. Elaine displayed her artistic and creative talents by baking; candle wicking; chair caning; crocheting; doll making; knitting: and interior decorating. She also enjoyed needle pointing; pouring, firing, and painting ceramics; preserving food; quilting; rug hooking; and sewing.
She was a successful business person. She was the owner of a movie rental store and apartment complex. Elaine also enjoyed socializing with all the patrons of street festivals, craft fairs and farmer's markets as she marketed her crafts.
Elaine leaves to cherish her memory, two sons: Carl (wife Joyce), Vincent (wife Pok Cha) and one daughter: Denise; six grandchildren: Sherwin, Brandon, Montague (wife Daishia), Marcus (wife Rekita), Devin, and Ellis; four great grandchildren: Skye, Jasmine, Keoni and Jadyn and a goddaughter, Danitah Sales Venable; three brothers in-law: Lee, Romano, and Jack; six sisters in-law: Mary Jean Comfort, Ruth McGhee, Agnes Thomas, Geraldine Richardson, Christine Richardson, Mary Lou Richardson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will received friends on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 6-7:30 p.m. in The Sun Chapel
