Edna Alberta Thompson left this world on February 4, 2025, at the age of 84. She was born on September 02, 1940, to the late Otha Leon and Daisy Jackson.
Edna was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thompson and two of her oldest children, William Levi, Marilyn Jackson, and two siblings, Kenneth Jackson and Sarah Houchens. Her passing is deeply mourned by her surviving children: Floyd, Shirl, Johnny, Dianna, Deborah Thompson, Patricia (Les) Givens, Ernest Thompson, and her grandchildren: Cassandra (Daniel) Pledger, Edward (Felicia) Jackson, Tiana Thompson, Cyrus (Destiny), Divine, Jada, Solomon Givens, her great-grandchildren: Marquasia, Keveon, Damarius, Kehlani, Monday, Ezra, Elias, her siblings: Hazel, Sally, Mattie,

A graduate of Archie G. Richardson High School, Edna earned her high school diploma in 1959. Following her high school years, she embraced her role as a dedicated homemaker, creating a warm and loving home for her family. Edna took great pride in caring for her household. Edna had a special gift for remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and the important moments in the lives of those she loved.
Edna had a passion for taking photographs of every moment she could, preserving memories that will forever live on. She loved spending time outdoors, planting flowers, weed eating and gardening. She took great pleasure watching her favorite soap operas and having long conversations about them with her sister Hazel.
Edna was known for her famous rice pudding and sweet potato pies, dishes that will be missed by all who had the privilege of tasting them. Despite facing the health challenges, Edna defied the doctor's expectation and lived far longer than they anticipated. Her strength, resilience, and her unwavering faith in God carried her through difficult times, allowing her to enjoy more time with her family and friends.
Her legacy of love, laughter, and care will live through her family, her sisters, brothers, children and grandchildren. Edna's memory will be cherished, and her gentle spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
To the Thompson family, we at D. D. Watson offer our most sincere sympathy and condolences. Our prayer continues to be that your abiding faith in God will lend to you a measure of comfort that will strengthen and sustain you during your time of sorrow.
