Dwain O'Neal Jackson "Poogie" ,as he was affectionately called, departed this life on January 19, 2023, after a bravely fought battle with cancer. He was born November 13, 1969, to Virginia Winn and the late John Lewis.
During his battle with cancer he kept his faith in God to bring him through! He never sat and complained about his situation only declared that he knew God would bring him through it! Even in his battle if you needed something he was there to help!
Dwain graduated from Louisa County schools and was a jack of all trades! There was very little that he could not do. If you needed a mechanic, a chef, a plumber, a tree cut down or someone to custom build anything, he was the man to call. He used his many talents to enhance his life and the lives of others. Dwain enjoyed singing, sharing his sense of humor and larger-than-life personality with his many friends and family, cooking (and man could he cook). He loved to share his testimony with others about how God brought him through! He touched the lives of others in so many ways and if you ever had the privilege to have an encounter with him, there's no doubt that he left you with laughs and memories, if nothing else you were guaranteed a laugh. He was one of the most passionate singers you would ever meet. He was a handy craftsman, all he needed was a vision and you couldn't stop him from there! A master chef he was indeed, he could take anything and put together a meal. There was very little he couldn't prepare. He was the type of person that just wanted to love and be loved, he was who he was whether you liked it or not! He was definitely unique, you won't find another like him! He loved his kids and grandkids and would do anything for them! He was amazing in his own special way! He was a member of Temple of Deliverance from childhood until his health declined and even attended when he was able during his illness.
He was a loving son, father, brother and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Dwain was preceded in death by his father John Lewis, and his grandmothers Alice Robinson and Mary Lewis (Betty) and his grandfather Joe Lewis.
He leaves to cherish his memory and tell his stories, his parents Sherman Winn Sr and Virginia Winn. Three sons Brian Tolbert, Dia'tre Jackson(Alexia) and Marcus Orr. Four Daughters Amara White(Anthony),Breanna Anderson (Bradley), India Jackson, and Jasmine Jackson. 11 grandchildren Jayvion, Amaya, Khalia, Anthony Jr, Heaven, Londyn, Matthew, Landon, Kayson, Taylin, and Miyla. 3 brothers Sherman Winn (Seirra) Pa Jones and Mike Lewis. 4 sisters Sheron Winn, Shalanda Cox (Jaman), Penny Campbell and Meka. He also leaves his Step-mother Darlene Lewis and his aunt Carolyn Lewis. A dedicated cousin and best friend Anthony Minor as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
His family wishes to thank Hospice for their kind care.
