Dorothy Ann Henson, the last of fifteen children, was born on August 25, 1936 to the late Eugene Houchens, Sr., and Elizabeth Houchens.
On the morning of March 19, 2017 at the Louisa Health and Rehabilitation Center, Dorothy slipped from time and entered into eternity.
Dorothy attended Louisa Public Schools and graduated in 1954 from A. G. Richardson High School. Dorothy is a retiree of Mineral Manufacturing. She enjoyed children and is known to have had a hand in helping to nurture many children through the years.
Dorothy was joined in holy matrimony to the late John Henson, Sr., now deceased.
Early in life, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior, was baptized and joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Her parents, husband, thirteen siblings; stepson, John Butler and son-in-law, David Forgie predeceased her.
She leaves to cherish her love and memory, her daughters, Barbara Forgie of Charlottesville, Margaret Jackson of Louisa, and Nakia Johnson (Greg) of Bumpass; her sons, John Henson, Jr. of Mineral and Wayne Henson of Louisa; her sister: Hannah Hunter of Mineral, two sisters-in-law, Alberta Houchens and Bertha Davis Houchens, both of Mineral; devoted nieces, Hannah Butler, Shirley Yancey, and Frances Smith; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren a devoted "grandson" Jaz Jackson and a host of other family members and friends.
Her life will be celebrated at 2 PM Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Rising Sun Baptist Church, 6829 Fredericks Hall Road Mineral, VA 23117 with Reverend Temple Anderson, Sr. delivering the message of comfort; Reverend Walter Pleasants, Jr., host pastor. Her remains will rest in the church and public viewing will begin at noon and end at the time of service (No other viewing will be available).
The committal and benediction will follow in the Houchens Family Cemetery.
