God sent his angels to usher our beloved, Dorothy Ann Carter home on Monday, November 29, 2010. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord", 2 Corinthians 5:8. Our beloved is now rejoicing with the Lord and all her family that made that spiritual journey before her.

Dorothy was born October 12, 1933, in Louisa County to Laura and Nathaniel Johnson. She was educated in the Louisa Public School System. She was united in marriage to Otis Carter on April 4, 1952 and seven children were born to this union. A virtuous woman, her price was far above rubies. She was blessed to have trust from her husband's heart and her children arise up and called her blessed, Proverb 31:10-30.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Burruss; her grand-daughter, Dwan Burruss; grand-son, Landon Burruss; her mother, Laura Collins and brother, Henry Milton Roberts.

She leaves her everlasting love with her loving, devoted husband, Otis M. Carter; two daughters, Deborah Trice & Robin Eure & husband Tony of Louisa; four sons, Otis Mason Carter, Jr. & wife Helen of Gaithersburg, MD, Herbert Carter & wife, Kathleen of Louisa, Michael Carter of Atlanta, GA, and Lawrence Carter of Louisa; seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Irene Kilby of Locus Grove, VA; two brothers, John Roberts of Maryland and Walter Collins & wife Barbara of Mineral, VA; three aunts, Elizabeth Lee of Waldorf, MD, Susie Quarles of Louisa, VA and Mary Hughes of Woodbridge, VA, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and numerous "adopted" children and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 -7 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010, at the Thomasson Watson Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2010, at First Baptist Church, 102 Meadows Ave, Louisa, VA 23093. The Reverend Bruce Jones will be officating and interment will follow in the Poindexter Family Cemetery.
