Deaconess Dorothy Lucille Bannister, 86, of Louisa, Virginia, widow of John Bannister, died Tuesday, March 12, 2008 at Louisa Health Care Center. Dorothy was born June 12, 1921, in Louisa County to the late George Brooks and Mildred Minor Brooks. She was educated in the Louisa County Public Schools. At an early age, she accepted Christ and became a member of Eagle Baptist Church. She served as a Deaconess, Senior Choir Member, Missionary, Sunday School Teacher and Church Clerk. Dorothy was employed with Woolfolk Manufacturing, Inc. for approximately 40 years. She was united in Holy Matrimony to John Bannister in August of 1943. Her husband, John Bannister; brothers, Ralph, Clearence and Willie Brooks preceded her in death, as well as a niece, Mildred Simms and nephews, Junior Nathaniel Brooks and Herbert Frank Brooks. She leaves to cherish her memories: three nieces, Susie Davis and her husband, Arthur Lee, Edith Byers and her husband, Clinton, Dorothy Poindexter and her husband, Aubrey; two nephews George and Linwood Brooks and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Eagle Baptist Church, Mt. Airy Road (Rte 644), Louisa, VA with the Rev. Dr. Charles H. Sims, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery.
