Doretta Trice departed this life peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the University of Virginia Health, Culpeper Medical Center.

Doretta , the only daughter of David "Dee" Trice and Dora Ann Waddy Trice, was born in Fluvanna County, Virginia, on July 12, 1948.

Doretta attended Fluvanna County Schools. At an early age, she joined Galilee Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully for many years.

Doretta was a well-protected, loved little girl and remained so her entire life. Passive, she was not. Doret ta always had an opinion, and if you caught her by surprise, she would tell you, and she didn't mince her words.

Doretta was strong-willed and feisty, charming and friendly, with a beautiful smile. She was also a dancer. Just turn on the oldies but goodies, and she would grab a partner. If no one was willing to dance with her, she would dance all by herself. Doretta loved being in the spotlight—she loved being the center of attention.

Recently, Doretta resided at a Group Home in Orange, Virginia, and was cared for by a loving, supportive, and gracious staff. We are eternally grateful for them and all those who have assisted in caring for Doretta .

Doretta is survived by Frances Lewis, her first cousin and primary caregiver, a host of cousins, family, and friends.
