Donald Henry Morris, Sr ., was born to the late Thomas Henry Morris and Gladys Dean Bullock, December 18, 1948, in Louisa, VA. He was the youngest of nine children born, seven brothers and two sisters. Donald was affectionately nicknamed "Duck" by his father Thomas. He was a graduate of Louisa County High School where he played basketball. He was a brut on the court, denying his opponent's scoring opportunities. Like his brothers, Donald was a muscular athletic guy from working with his daddy and brothers at the sawmill and numerous brother on brother wrestling matches. He could not be the youngest and the weakest of the brothers, so he bulked up.

After graduating high school, he moved to Washington DC, to work with his brother Oscar in construction. Years later, he returned to Louisa, VA., and married Mildred Harris. Donald Henry Morris, Jr. (Jody), was born from this union. They divorced 10 years later. In 2001, his beloved grandson, Kristian Liam Morris was born. Proud Daddy and Grandpa loved to brag about his kids.

In 1981 while visiting with friends, a photo of lovely young Parthenia (Peaches) Ray caught his attention. He waited almost one year for Peaches to return from New York and their romance began shortly thereafter. For the next 42 years, if you saw Duck , Peaches was right by his side. And if you saw Peaches, Duck was following, but with an opinion. Together they lived happily in Orange, VA amongst family and friends before venturing to the deep south, Tallahassee, FL. The next 7 years Duck told stories about alligators in the creeks and lakes around their home. If you heard the stories more than once, each had a different ending or character to make you laugh. He also loved to go fishing and like all anglers, he had plenty of versions of how the biggest fish jumped over the boat and got away. For Duck , it was not about catching the fish, it was the meditative process of conjuring a new story. They moved their church home from Mt. Gilliam Old-Site, Louisa, Va. to the Evangel Assembly of God Church in Tallahassee, Fl. where they remained active members during their stay.

In 2014, they relocated to Warner Robins, GA, purchased a house and established a new spiritual home at New Hope Baptist Church. New Hope Baptist welcomed them with open arms, and they quickly became an integral fabric of the community. Donald participated with the food bank ministry and provided transportation for children to the Wednesday evening prayer service.

If you ever met Donald , you would remember his big laugh and smile, the handle-bar mustache, and those legs of which he was so proud. Duck loved everyone, especially Peaches, Jody, and Kristian.

Duck is preceded in death by his son Donald Henry Morris, Jr., his parents Thomas and Gladys, brothers Hilton (Sweet Pea), Thomas (Pete), Curtis, James (Tick), George and sister Delores Johnson (Doll baby). Donald leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife Parthenia, grandson Kristian, brother Oscar (Slick) (Hallie), sister Dora Comfort, sister-in-law Rita Monk, daughter-in-love  Melanie Washburn, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and good friends.

To each of you in the Morris family, we at D. D. Watson offer to you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences. Our prayer continues to be that your abiding faith in God will lend to you a measure of comfort that will strengthen and sustain you during your time of sorrow.
