On a cool morning, with the sun's rising, February 17, 1975, God blessed Carrol and Corliss Quarles Baskfield with a beautiful baby boy named Dominique Eron. He was called "Nique" by family and friends. He was the oldest of three children. On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, with the sunrise, "Nique" shed his earthly form of sickness and pain, put on his robe of "Righteousness," and walked into eternal love and healing.
Dominique joined Galilee Baptist Church Louisa at an early age. He graduated from Louisa County High School. Dominique was an independent and crafty child. As a little boy, one could always find him with a wrench, screwdriver, and hammer in his hand. He would say, "I am going to fix it." (It did not always work out that way, OUCH …) As Nique grew, his gifts grew with him. He worked on cars, created beautiful structures, and wired them with lights.
Dominique never saw or found anything royal blue he did not bring home. Including finding royal blue things at the dump or Recycling Center. The items he discovered he used in his creations. His creativity and mechanical abilities afforded him many jobs – auto shop, wood crafting, and cabinetry throughout his life. "Nique "had a great love for cars, especially the Volkswagen JETTA. His great sense of humor would bring you to laughter with tears. He also had a serious side and a big heart for loving and giving. He would say things that would lift your spirits when you were having a dark day. His famous line was, "Hello, beautiful." He loved his family and friends; he loved and adored his girls.
Dominique was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Theola Quarles, his paternal grandparents, Carol and Alease Baskfield, an uncle, Therod Quarles, and his aunt Sharon Quarles Hill, who predeceased "Nique" by one hour.
To remember "Nique" with love are his two daughters, Ayanna Baskfield and Naomi Watson; his Mother, Corliss Baskfield-Holmes; his father, Carrol Baskfield, Jr. (Sharyl), two brothers, Damond and Jarrell Baskfield; one niece, Nastaje Baskfield; one nephew, Dorian Baskfield; seven aunts, Sandra Ellis, Mary Fortune (Ashland), Hazel Matthews, Elsie Lewis (Ronald), Adel Scarborough (Carvin), Alease Johnson (Brian) and Linda Lewis; five uncles Willard Hill, John Baskfield (Brenda), Curtis Baskfield (Carolyn), Willie Baskfield (Kim) and Earl Baskfield (Cassandra); three great aunts, Audrey Perkins, Elisha Scott, and Leona Johnson; a very special friend Jamell Yancey; and a host of cousins and friends.
Dominique will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
