On January 25, 1925 Wallace West began his life journey as the surviving twin of the late Rev. P. H. West and Eva B. Anderson West in Mineral, Virginia.
He transitioned to eternal rest on October 17, 2022 at his residence.
He is survived by children Annette West Brown (Joseph Brown), Wallace H. West, Malcolm West, Donald R. West, Donna West Goolsby( Rodney F. Goolsby) Michael West and bonus daughter, Carrie Yancey. He also leaves over 33 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Eva E. Hooker West, his granddaughter Morgan D. Brown and great granddaughter Courdeja West, his sisters Pauline West Gwaltney, Ethel West Brown, Eva West (infant), brothers Wesley West, Patrick West, Eddie West (infant), and Willis West (twin brother).
In 1944 Wallace enlisted in the US Navy from which he retired in 1964.
Wallace was one of the last World War II Veterans in Virginia and was selected to be honored as such which will be presented posthumously.
After retirement he worked for Louisa County Public Schools, VEPCO power plant, as a cook, barber shop owner and traveling barber to the sick and shut in. He is well known as a good and reliable driver who carried neighbors to doctor appointments and to handle personal business.
He was a lifelong member at Rising Sun Baptist Church, 6289 Fredericks Hall Rd, Mineral, VA, where his funeral will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
