Deacon Wayne Wright Clark, Sr. April 23, 1939 ~ November 30, 2025
Deacon Wayne Clark, Sr., departed this life on Sunday, November 30, 2025, to be with the Lord. He was surrounded by his family and friends at Albemarle Health and Rehabilitation Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was born on April 23, 1939. He was preceded in death by his parents James C. Clark and Lannie Bland Clark, and his siblings Eliza C. Gunnell, Ethel Clark, Leevy Clark and Daisy C. Hearns.
Deacon Clark grew up in Kents Store, Virginia and was educated in the Fluvanna County School system. He accepted Christ at an early age and begin serving God at Bryd Grove Baptist Church, Kents Store, VA. He later joined Zion Baptist Church in North Garden, VA where he served in the Missionary Circle, Men’s Choir, Sunday School as Superintendent, Joint Sunday School, Usher, and Deacon. He was the past President of the Deacon, Deaconess and Youth Department. He also served with the Lord’s Supper food ministry.
Deacon Clark worked for Morton’s Frozen Foods, Crozet Virginia. He also worked in the construction industry until his employment with the Charlottesville School system where he served from 1975 to 2001 when he retired after twenty-six years of service. He then served the community with a local mortician until he was called to be the caregiver of his older brother Chris Clark. He took care of his brother with excellence until the very end of his life.
Deacon Clark was truly a Man of God. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. He was a skilled baker and was known for his Christmas fruit cakes, sweet potato cakes and banana split cakes. If he wasn’t baking, he loved completing puzzles. He loved his neighbor as he loved himself. He was known for his fashion sense of black pants and white shirt and tie.
Deacon Clark leaves to cherish his memory, daughter Rochelle Clark-Alexander (Rev. Frank), son Wayne Clark, Jr, brother James C Clark, grandchildren, Walter Davis, III, Jermaine C. Davis, Ramel Smith, great grand-daughter Nava Smith, Sister in love, Beatrice Clark, nieces, Myra Turner (Anthony), Rev. Christina Chambers (Pastor Ernest), Shelia Clark, Janet Hearns, Jewell Black, Sandra Morris and Marie Carter, nephews Mellyn Reese, Paul Clark, Anrechio Hearns, Sr., Dwayne Hearns, James Hearns, Jr., Rodney Hearns, Jay Hearns, Peyton Smith, Freddy Smith, Jay Brabham and Deacon Cameron Carter and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
To the Clark family, we at D. D. Watson offer our most sincere sympathy and condolences. Our prayer continues to be that your abiding faith in God will lend to you a measure of comfort that will strengthen and sustain you during your time of sorrow.
It is during such times as these that we draw upon our faith, stand upon our scriptures, and rely upon our God. There is no question that in this and through this, God will keep you, comfort you, and sustain you. You and your family are forever in our prayers.
