David Byrd Winn Jr., of Louisa County, peacefully transitioned from this life on February 27, 2026, at 6:11 p.m. at Louisa Health and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 7, 1943, to the late David Winn Sr. and Florence Winn. David was raised in Louisa County, where he developed the strong faith, work ethic, and deep love for family that would define his life. At an early age, he joined First Baptist Church and remained a devoted and active member throughout his life. His faith served as a steady foundation, guiding his words, actions, and relationships.

David was a proud graduate of Louisa County Public Schools. In 1965, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army, where he served honorably until 1967, including service during the Vietnam War. His time in the Army reflected the same sense of duty, courage, and commitment that he carried into every aspect of his life. Following his military service, David began a remarkable career with Barton and Boyd, where he dedicated more than 40 years of hard work and craftsmanship. He took immense pride in his work, believing in building not only strong structures, but also lasting relationships and memories that would stand the test of\ time.

In 1966, David married the love of his life, Gloria Winn. Their 59-year union was a testament to enduring love, partnership, and devotion. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. David was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Gloria; his children, John Winn, Rosetta Whalen (Gregory), and Monique Booth (Clarence); his grandchildren, Keisha, Myshalai, Ebony, Isaiah, Xavier, Caleb, and Amari; and his great-grandchildren, Ahteara, DeJhan, and Synceire. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

David truly cherished time spent with family and friends. Known for his warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit, he was often the life of the gathering—always ready with a smile, a story, or a laugh. His presence brought comfort, his guidance brought strength, and his love brought unity. Though he may no longer walk among us, the legacy of his kindness, faith, and devotion lives on in the lives he touched. His life was well lived, his love well shared, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

This is not goodbye, but simply until we meet again. Rest well, Mr. David Byrd Winn Jr.
