David Lee Trice , affectionately known as "Trout" was born on September 11, 1954 in Louisa, Virginia to the late Willie Mason Trice and Dorothy Harris Trice. On Thursday August 21, 2025, at the Richmond Memorial Regional Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia he departed this life to be with the Lord.
David Lee accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized and joined the congregation of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was educated in Louisa County Public Schools.
David Lee was an avid sports fan. He loved basketball, baseball, and football (a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan). He loved pitching horseshoes and was very competitive in doing so! If you ever played against him the majority of the time, he would be victorious. After David Lee became a father, he added another sport to cheer for-- track and field. His daughters ran track during their high school years. He would attend every track meet and you would find him on the side line encouraging them from start to finish. He was full of pride for his daughters.
David Lee enjoyed spending time with his family. He devoted his life to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He knew all 23 grandchildren's birthdays and his great grandchildren's birthdays. He never missed calling them and wishing them a "Happy Birthday". When his health began to fail and he couldn't attend an occasion, he would still call to get details of the events. He didn't want to miss anything. David Lee was a dedicated employee at Tyson Foods in Glenn Allen, Virginia. His co-workers enjoyed and respected him. They said he always went the extra mile and never left to go home before everyone's work was completed regardless of the time. He will be greatly missed by all family, friends, and coworkers.
David Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Mason Trice and Dorothy Harris Trice, three brothers: Charles "Buck" Trice, Eric Trice, and Leo Trice; grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
Left to cherish David Lee's precious memories are his wife of 34 years, Rosa Trice, four daughters: Catina Trice King (Barry), Tracy Trice, Chanda Christian/Caregiver (Antoine) and Latasha Trice; twenty-three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven brothers: Robert "Bob" Harris, Willie Trice (Florence),
Steve Trice (Bessie), Rosson Trice (Virginia), Larry, Marvin, and Lincoln "Bruce" Trice; two sisters: Sandra Trice and Linda Trice; three sisters-in-law: Virginia Dunlap, Lucy Wyatt, and Pearphine "Phiney" Trice;
two aunts: Eva Shelton and Nan Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, one devoted, James Wyatt, and friends, one devoted, Paul Harris.
David Lee's life was a true testament to love, dedication and family. His presence, his laughter, and unwavering support will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
