Curtis Gilbert Cooke passed from this life into eternal life on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Cedars Healthcare Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. Curtis was born October 13th, 1955 in Louisa, Virginia to the late, Willie Lloyd and Shirley Ann Holland Cooke.

Curtis attended Louisa Public School and worked for many different logging companies over the years. Curtis loved operating lawnmowers, painting, fishing and playing horseshoes. His Brothers and Sisters have always been there for him. Brother, Gary and Sister Annette have been his caretaker day and night, when he called they always came running. His daughter, Shantel Johnson was also at his side.

Curtis was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Ann Holland Cooke and father, Willie Lloyd Cooke; four brothers, Edward Lee, Richard, Rudolph and Mack Cooke.

Curtis leave behind his devoted daughter, Shantel Johnson; son, Charles Lee Jones; six sisters, Shirley Hiter of Louisa, VA and Jackie Washington (Clarence) of Upper Marlboro, MD and Teresa Cooke Goochland, VA, Dawn Cooke (Lionel) of Louisa, VA, Judy Cooke (Ralph) of Louisa, VA, Annette Cooke (Robert) of Louisa VA; four brothers, Willie Cooke (Elsie) of Newport News, VA, Roy Cooke of Buckingam, VA, Michael Cooke of Charlottesville, VA and Gary Cooke of Louisa, VA; aunts, Yvonne Athey, Marion Scott, Barbara Clark; a host of nieces, nephews, a devoted friend, Lenny Brook and many other friends.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022 at First Baptist Church 102 Meadows Avenue with Rev. Bruce Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Standing on the Promises of God Church Cemetery.
