Cora Virginia Rawlings Scott (affectionately known as "Boots") of Louisa, Virginia, peacefully slipped into eternal life on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 96 years of age. She was born on August 24, 1927, to the late Joseph Johnson and Mammie Dandridge.

Cora was a longtime, loyal member of the Springfield Baptist Church. She was a dedicated Deaconess and a faithful choir member, who loved lifting her voice to God in praise.

Cora was preceded in death by her husband, James Samuel Scott; her sons Steven, Thomas and Teddy Jackson, and Samuel and Wesley Scott; brother Henry Rawlings, sister Elizabeth Bishop, and grandson Steve Jackson.

Cora leaves to cherish her memories, her sons Earl Scott (Audrey) and Ernest Scott; a daughter Sadie Harris (Robert); devoted caregiver and granddaughter Lisa Jackson (Stacey); grandchildren Samuel Scott (April), James Rawlings, Samuel Carter (Yolanda), Melissa Scott, Jennifer White (Clinton), Angela Comfort, Michael Scott, Michelle Hunt (Tony), James Harris (Jeanne), Benjamin Harris, Nicole Mitchell (Eric), and Ashley Scott; as well as a host of great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

One of Cora's great joys was her routine calls with some of her closest friends, church family, and relatives.  She will be lovingly remembered for always opening her kitchen to feed family, friends, and even strangers.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude and admiration to Sister Dorothy Barrett, who spent much time visiting Cora when she was in good health, and when the need came, Sister Barrett faithfully stepped in as her trusted caregiver until Cora's passing.  We also gratefully acknowledge those who checked in daily – Cousin Jestine and her husband Owen – and those who were willing to provide care at a moment's notice – Joyce Christmas (Babygirl), Mary Frances Jackson, Makenzie Coles, and Elsie Scott.
