Clinton Douglas Byers was born on March 4, 1943, to the late Richard and Edith Byers. He departed this life and entered his eternal heavenly home on August 1, 2023.

Clinton was born and raised in North Garden, Virginia. At an early age he became a member of South Garden Baptist Church. He graduated from Jackson P. Burley High School, in 1960.

Clinton relocated to the Washington, DC area for over thirty years before returning to Virginia. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was tough, and he did not pull no punches with his words, but he meant well, and his favorite title was "Grandaddy".

Clinton was a truck driver by profession, spending over 50 years behind the wheel. His love for the open road was only surpassed by his love for his family and his home in North Garden. He happily retired from Cavalier Produce in 2013, swapping the truck's cab for his porch's tranquility, often shared with friends and family and his special drink.

Clinton was the life of the party, he loved to dance to his blues, cook, travel, fish, and spend time with the family and friends. He could always be found watching football and wrestling in his favorite recliner.

Clinton leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Evangelist Edith Byers; his daughter, Barbara Blackshear; his two brothers, Donald Byers (Mary) and Curtis Byers (Carolyn); his sister-in law, Dorothy Poindexter (Aubrey); three brothers-in law, George Brooks, Linwood Brooks and Arthur Lee Davis, Sr.; four grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and nineteen great great grandchildren; who were the center of his universe and a host of beloved nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Edith Byers, and his grandson, Deven Blackshear. Clinton's legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of his family and everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.

Let us celebrate the life of Clinton D. Byers, a memorable man who touched our lives and left an indelible mark. We invite you to share your memories of Clinton to the memorial page, as we remember and honor his extraordinary life.
