Clayton Wilbert Thurston, 72 of Louisa, Virginia, was quietly and peacefully called home to his place of peace and rest on Friday, December 25, 2020, at The Heritage Inn of Charlottesville in Charlottesville, Virginia .
Born Thursday, February 12, 1948 in Louisa, Virginia , he was the son of the late Alvah Harold and Geneva Brown Thurston.
He was a graduate of A G Richardson High School. Following graduation, Clayton joined the U.S. Army and served faithfully. He was employed for over twenty five years as a mechanic at Virginia Electric and Power Company (Dominion Energy).
He was a member of Mt. Gilliam Baptist Church(New Site), Louisa, VA.
Clayton was predeceased by brother, Alvah Lee Thurston; sisters, Virginia Lipscomb and Rachel Sullivan.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one brother, Mitchell Thurston; his devoted niece and caregiver, Camberlena Lipscomb; one brother-in-law Thomas Sullivan and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Thanks also goes out to his caregiver William Stewart.
A walk-through viewing will be held 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at The Sun Chapel, D.D. Watson, Louisa.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in Mt Gilliam (NS) Baptist Church Cemetery, Louisa, VA.
We will be following The Governor's recommendation for social distancing.
