On Tuesday, January 23, 2018, God closed the eyes of our beloved Christopher McCray Jackson, as he departed this earthly life, at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, Virginia, and went home to take up residence in his eternal home.  Although our hearts are saddened and heavy, we concur that God only takes the best.

Christopher, affectionately known as Chubby, was born on October 30, 1977, to the union of the Late Floyd Leon Jackson and Florine Hunter Jackson.  He shared his life with three loving brothers, Jeffrey, Craig, and Joseph.  He is preceded in death by his loving father; his paternal grandfather, Andrew Jackson; and his maternal grandparents Edith Hunter and Ralph Houchens.

Chubby received his education in the Louisa County Public Schools, where he was an outstanding baseball player.  He gave his life to Christ and joined the Rising Sun Baptist Church, Mineral, Virginia, at an early age, and attended even as his health began to fail.  Chubby faced health issues for several years, but he continued to press through his condition and enjoyed his life with his family and friends until the end.  He cherished his five children and loved the times they shared together.  He loved to fish and he loved preparing seafood for family and friends.  He was a 'DEVOTED' Dallas Cowboy fan, who never hesitated to cheer his team on, through the wins, as well as the losses.

Chubby leaves to cherish his memories: a loving mother, Florine Jackson; five children, Christopher Jackson (Asia), Elijah Christmas, Kendyl Titus, Cameron Jackson, and Mason Jackson; one grandson, Andrew Leon Jackson; three brothers, Jeffrey Hunter (Missy) of Mineral, Craig Butler, and Joseph Jackson (Sonya) of Norfolk; maternal grandmother, Lorraine Jackson; nine aunts, Alice Mitchell, Rebecca Wood, Elizabeth Johnson, Roberta Hunter, Joyce Bowles, Lagretta Hunter, Kathy Jackson, Felicia Jackson and Geraldine Jackson; nine uncles, Charles Hunter, Archie Hunter, Andrew Jackson, Ronald Jackson, Wendell Jackson, Norman Mitchell, Vernon Wood, Larry Johnson, and Edward Gross; three great aunts, Hannah Hunter, Bertha Houchens, and Alberta Houchens; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends; two devoted cousins, Keshia Jackson and Viva Wood; and four devoted friends, Nedra Jackson, Lalita Henderson, Shawna Clough, and Tirrell Jackson.

Viewing will be Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 4-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Rising Sun Baptist Church 6829 Fredericks Hall Road Mineral, VA, with Pastor Walter Pleasants, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
