Our beloved, Christine (Theodosia Christina) Hackney Jackson was a warm, loving and beautiful woman who loved God, family and friends. Her kindness to others, especially children was immeasurable, and she loved flowers and cooking.
On August 29, 2022, God picked a beautiful flower for his heavenly bouquet and gently called Christine home to be with him for her reward. Christine was born on November 9, 1933, in Kents Store, VA to the late John Jasper and Eula Easton Hackney. Christine was a caregiver for her
mother and father for many years and did so with dedication, patience and love. She was the loving wife of her devoted husband, Gilbert D. Jackson for over 63 years.
Christine joined the County Line Baptist Church at an early age and later joined the Byrd Grove Baptist Church after she married her husband. She loved to praise God through song and willingly shared her gift of music on countless occasions. Christine was a member and lead vocalist of various choirs to include the Byrd Grove Gospel Chorus, Byrd Grove Combined Choir and The Friends in Christ Chorus at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She also served as director of the Byrd Grove Youth Choir and was a member of The Byrd Grove Hospitality Committee. Christine truly believed in God and was always willing to serve him in any manner possible.
Christine attended Fluvanna County public schools and was a graduate of S.C. Abrams High School. She loved softball and played on the school team as shortstop. She shared her love of the game with her children and grandchildren and was a devoted supporter whenever one of them was playing or participating in other events.
She was employed by Morton's Food Corporation, in Crozet, VA and completed her working career at Oakland School, Troy VA, lovingly preparing meals for children.
Christine loved to garden beautiful flowers, enjoyed stylish fashion and preparing food for her family, friends, and community. She was an excellent cook and blessed everyone with her cooking talent at church functions, family dinners, holiday events, and weddings. Everyone loved her delicious rolls, cobblers, cakes, pies and potato salad to name a few.
In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her sisters, Allene Bethea and Julia H. Key; her brothers, John, Curtis, and Harold Hackney.She leaves to cherish memories of her life, her devoted husband, Gilbert D. Jackson; her devoted son, Kenneth G. Jackson; her beloved daughter, Lisa and son-in-law, Anthony G. Scott, all of Kents Store; her grandchildren, Monique K. Jackson and DeVohn L. Scott, both of Kents Store; Jasmine S. Jackson and boyfriend Jay Henson of Louisa; Terrell A. Scott and girlfriend Victoria A. Nixon of Kents Store; her great-grandchildren, Aubrey M. Henson and Joseph D. Henson of Louisa and Jayden A. Jackson-Baker of Kents Store; sister-in-law, Thelma L. Jackson of Kents Store; a devoted niece, Joann K. Price of Kents Store; a devoted friend, Thelma Brown Jackson, of Palmyra, VA and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Byrd Grove Baptist Church, 2365 Cedar Lane Road, Kents Store, VA 23084. There will be no public viewing. Seating will be limited at the church due to current health restrictions. Attendees will be able to hear the service outside. Interment will be at the Byrd Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
