IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Chris Marie
Scott
December 25, 1952 – July 23, 2023
On a new day, the first season, Chris Marie Scott began her earthly story on a Christmas morning, December 25, 1952. Her parents, the late Walter Frank Scott and Mary Ann Hackney Scott were elated over their Christmas gift of the newborn baby. Chris became one sibling of a beautiful family that would become six children with loving parents. The entire Scott and Hackney and extended families shared the joy of the newborn beautiful baby girl.
For many who loved Chris, their season ended. Chris was predeceased by her beloved parents, Walter Frank and Mary Ann Hackney Scott, parental grandparents George Frank and Ella Sue McCowan Scott, maternal grandparents Willie George and Sarah Hackney and many beautiful paternal and maternal aunts and uncles who loved her dearly.
Growth, and a new life and a new season, Chris's earthly story unfolded. Chris discovered love of family and friends but when she discovered the love of God, her passion for service superseded all understanding. Reading and learning became a great focus for her. Chris graduated from Louisa County High School with honors and with her magnanimous personality, she became the first black homecoming queen of LCPS in 1971. She attended Virginia Union University, receiving a Bachelor' Degree in history and government. Her love for learning made her thirsty to know more about the world and how it was created.
Chris searched to understand the word of God. Chris attended, graduated, and received certificates in ministry from Faith Landmarks Church in Richmond, VA and other institutions. Her many studies cumulated in her receiving her divinity degree. Chris became an ordained minister, and she would travel and let her light of God's word shine through her smile and heart. Chris was a big fan of Mother Nature and Sunflowers became her special comfort and peace.
During Chris' season of adventures – Shopping and finding really "cool stuff" was one of her passions.
Chris had an eye for great treasure in small things. Her adventures took her to outlets malls and stores, where she would find items no one else wanted and turned them into gems. Chris's was a superb decorator and she loved antiques, her habitat on earth always looked like a creation from a magazine. We believe that Chris got this trait from her Aunt Arnell who also loved antiques and small treasures. Many believe the Chris' flare for shopping with sister Dale and finding amazing stuff were copied by many friends and cousins. We learned how to be a fashionista.
The season, of new possibilities, Chris loved seeing the country and the world, working for the betterment of mankind. Chris worked for VEPCO, the Community Action Agency, Federal Express, Bank of America, and as a trainer at Stream. Born in Louisa County VA but her love for learning and travel took her to France, India, China, Mexico, New Mexico, Atlanta, and her retirement in Florida. Her hobbies were divinely inspired arts and craft such as Christmas and life-events wreaths. Chris beautiful jewelry creations (Bolo neck ties and other one-of-a-kind jewelry items) is worn by family and friends.
As life happened to all of us, life happened to Chris. Chris's season of winter- Her health began to become very fragile. Chris's earthly angel was her niece, Robin and Robin's husband, Rich Kemp. They loved and cared for her earthly vessel until God's grace and mercy sent an angel to take her to her heavenly home, July 23, 2023. Memories and the love of family and friends will keep Chris with us.
