A Time to Be Born
Cheryl Vernell Harris was born on November 28, 1959. She was the fourth of five children born to George Harris Sr. and Marian Coles Harris.
A Time to Build
She graduated from Louisa County High School in 1978. She had various jobs. Among them were Louisa Manufacturing Co., J. Sergeant Reynolds (Cafeteria), Bank of America (Cafeteria), and an aid at Noah's Ark Daycare.
A Time to Serve God
At an early age, Cheryl joined and was baptized by Reverend Dr. Joseph Haden at the Ebenezer Baptist Church. She became an active and devoted member. Among her services were: Secretary of the Sunday School, Usher Board, A.L. Carter Singers and the Ebenezer Gospel Chorus. She was also a member of the Hospitality and Bulletin Committees.
A Time to Unwind
Cheryl with her beautiful smile, loved singing and cooking. One of her greatest joys was children.
A Time to Weep
Two sisters, Vanessa and Odessa preceded her in death.
Cheryl leaves to cherish the memories, a devoted mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. George Harris Sr., one loving and devoted sister, Leatrice Pace (William); one loving and devoted brother, George Harris Jr. (Barbara); one nephew, Jermaine Pace Sr. (Jackie); two nieces, Chasity Harris and Jasmine Harris; three great nephews, Jermaine Pace Jr., Jhalil Parrish and Sunta Grimm; one great niece, Kali Bundick; five aunts, Mrs. Nannie Johnson, Mrs. Eva Shelton (Vergie), Mrs. Shirley Johnson, Mrs. Arlean Anderson (Warren), and Mrs. Joyce Holt; two uncles, Mr. Andrew Harris and Mr. Thomas Harris; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Cheryl's remains will rest in the church for viewing starting at 10:30 AM on the day of the service.
On Friday, June 16, 2017, Cheryl's life will be celebrated at noon, at Ebenezer Baptist Church 864 Pendleton Road Mineral, VA 23117, with Reverend William D. House,III delivering the message of comfort; The committal and benediction will follow in the church cemetery.
