Charlotte Evonne Morris King departed this life on December 27, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on September 23, 1941, Charlotte was the beloved daughter of the late Mabel B. Morris and Isom C. Morris. She was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence A. Morris, and her sisters, Beverly Morris and Shirley J. Ragland.
Charlotte is survived by her two sons: Kenneth N. King and his wife Sandra of Ames, Iowa, and J. Andre' King and his wife Missy of Warrenton, Virginia. She also leaves behind three devoted sisters: Julia A. Cooley of Mineral, Virginia; Francis Richardson; and Helen Morris of Washington, D.C. Her legacy lives on through her five cherished grandchildren: Kenneth II (Kristina), Jacquise, Brittany (Emmanuel), Kenthen, and Natalie (Manny); as well as fifteen treasured great-grandchildren and a host of special nieces, nephews, family and devoted friends.
Affectionately known as "Evonne," she began her career at the Louisa Manufacturing Clothing Plant, where she worked diligently for 30 years as a Union Leader and Supervisor of the Trimming Department. Following the plant's closure, she pursued her passion for caregiving and earned a certification as a nursing assistant. In this role, she traveled throughout the county, providing compassionate care to those in need.
In 2002, Evonne made a career change and accepted a position at the Louisa County Clerk's Office, where she worked for 12½ years until her retirement in 2014. She was well-loved by her colleagues and admired for her dedication and work ethic.
Evonne was a faithful and devoted member of Mt. Gilliam Baptist Old Site Church. She served the congregation as a Trustee, an Usher, and a member of the Culinary Ministry until her health no longer permitted. Her unwavering faith and love for the Lord were central to her life.
Evonne had a passion for family, and she found immense joy in hosting gatherings and spending quality time with her loved ones. She was dedicated to serving others, both in her personal life and through her work, and she truly embodied the spirit of selflessness and love.
Her life was a testament to her deep faith, her commitment to helping others, and her enduring love for her family. She will be profoundly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
"Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord." —Matthew 25:23
