Deacon Charles H. McGhee, 82, born April 2, 1927 in Louisa County, VA, to the late James and Sophia McGhee, departed this earthly life on Monday, March 29, 2010 at Marth Jefferson Hospital.

Deacon McGhee is proceeded in death by his loving Lizzie of 60 years; five brothers, Carl, Clarence, Alix, David and Floyd, three sisters, Marie Dowling, Inez Collins and Mabel Johnson. He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn McGhee of Washington, DC, Darnell and Kathy McGhee of Richmond, VA and one grandson Chante' McGhee of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by two brothers Albert and wife Ruth McGhee of Orange, VA and Thomas and wife Ellen McGhee of Louisa, two sisters Elsie Sellers of Lemon Grove, CA, and Susie McGhee of Newark, NJ, five sister-in-law; Reva, Cora and Cornetta McGhee, Thelma Jackson, Helen Walker, brother-in-law and devoted friend Carl Walker, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other beloved family and friends.

Joining Foster Creek Baptist Church at an early age, he served as a Deacon of the church for more than 50 years. Deacon McGhee truly enjoyed working in the community sharing communion, prayers and songs. After retirement he volunteered with the Louisa Rescue Squad for a number of years.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 at Foster Creek Baptist Church 4028 East Jack Jouett Road Louisa, VA 23093 with the Rev. John C. Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the McGhee family Cemetery.
