Charles (Dough Belly) Henry Houchens, 67 of Mineral, VA was born on October 5, 1947 in Louisa County.
He quietly departed this earthly life to make his journey to the Promised Land on Monday, July 13, 2015
at approximately 4:40pm at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, VA surrounded by his loving family members.
Charles was proceeded in death by his mother, Lucille Houchens Yancey; brother, Anthony Marko Yancey and his grandparents, Eugene and Mary Elizabeth Houchens.
He became a member of the Rising Sun Baptist Church at a relatively young age.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory: four brothers, Robert N. Yancey (Joyce), Thomas L. Yancey, Sr. (Lori), Griffent E. Yancey,Sr.(Joy) and Joseph Jack Yancey, Sr. (Krystal); six sisters, Fannie Shelton (George), Lucille Shelton, Shirley Henson, Carrie Yancey, Christine Mack (Reginald) and Gaile Yancey Shelton (Dennis); four aunts, Dorothy Henson, Hannah Hunter, Alberta Houchens and Bertha D. Houchens; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and devoted friends, William Bates, Thomas (Pie) Henson, Julia Jackson, Frances Hunter and Grace Shelton.
Charles had a great love for the staff at the Health South Rehabilitation Hospital and his great family at the Trinity Mission Nursing home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Rising Sun Baptist Church, 6829 Fredericks Hall Road, Mineral, VA with Reverend Temple Anderson, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Houchens Family Cemetery, Mineral, VA.
