Charles Edward Alexander Johnson, Sr., 81, of Louisa, VA quietly transitioned this earthly life at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA on September 28, 2022.

He was the third child of the late Elder William H., Sr., and the late Mother Louvinia O. Johnson of Mineral, VA. The Louisa County Public School System provided his formal education. He was the owner and operator of Johnson Construction Company, Inc. for 50 years.

His gift of creativity, unmatched work ethic, ability to transform dreams into realities, advanced problem-solving logic, attention to detail, vast array of knowledge, and use of excellence as his benchmark were his MO (Motus Operandi). Teaching and encouraging others along his journey through life were a staple of his personality.

His kind smile and pleasant demeanor assured that he would never be a stranger. Whether in coveralls and his trademark white hard hat, or a black cowboy hat and casual wear, or his Sunday best, he enjoyed life and looked forward to making a positive difference.

Charles was proceeded in death by his parents: Elder William H. Sr. and mother, Louvinia O. Johnson; brothers, Dr. William H. Johnson, Jr., Marvin L. Johnson, and Calvin E. Johnson.

He leaves to honor his memories, his devoted wife, Mary E. Johnson, of 57 years; his children, CW2 (Ret.) Charles E. A. (Lorenza) Johnson II, Charletta E. A. (Julian) Johnson Anderson, CSC(SS) (Ret.) Michael A. (Cassondra) Johnson and SFC Markes O. (Catherine) Johnson; his grandchildren, Charles Johnson III, Alfred Johnson, Corina Johnson, Raquel Johnson, Alicia Anderson, Justice Anderson, Michael Johnson Jr., Sebastian Johnson, Fiona Johnson, Caspian Johnson, Monica Smith, Xahara Johnson and Theaden Johnson; a brother, CSM (Ret.) Alfred W.(Lisa) Johnson; a sister, Frances Lindsay; brother-in-law, Ray(Judy) Owens; devoted friends, Rick Robinson, Ashland Fortune, Charlie Taylor, Ruth Harley, Aubrey Poindexter, Malcolm West and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

A viewing will be held Friday, October 14,2022 from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm. A family gathering will be held from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at D. D. Watson, 117 West Street, Louisa, VA 23093

Additional viewing will be held Saturday at 9:30 am -11:00 am followed by a funeral service starting at 11:00 am at Temple of Deliverance, HCOG, INC., 5756 Zachary Taylor Highway, Mineral, VA 23117 with Elder Lynn W. Beanum, Jr., officiating. Interment will follow at True Apostolic Church of Christ, 6631 Fredericks Hall Road, Mineral, Virginia.
