Catherine "Cathy" Marie Burruss was born in Charlottesville, VA on August 17, 1962 to the late Armstead Lewis and Rosa Blakey. She departed this life on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in Louisa, VA. Her brother Calvin Hester preceded her in death.

Cathy received her education in the Charlottesville School System.

Cathy joined Zion Travelers Baptist Church in recent years and continued to fellowship with New Life Community Church, Louisa, VA Women's Ministry.

Cathy was employed in nursing and food service for many years. Her most recent job was at Fas Mart in Louisa, where she worked as a cook. Customers often said she cooked the best chicken in Louisa. Cathy also volunteered with MACAA and Louisa Resource Center, giving back to the community.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of twenty six years, Christopher Burruss; step sisters, Tanisha Lewis and Starr Lewis of Charlottesville, VA; step-mother, Cheryl Lewis of Charlottesville, VA; mother-n-law, Pearl Burruss, Louisa, VA; three brothers-n-law, Carl Burruss (Bertha) and Thomas L. Burruss, both of Louisa and Ernest Burruss (Margaret) of Harrisonburg, VA; two sisters-n-law, Adriene Garnett (Bill) of Louisa, VA, Donna Bates (Rev. Austin G. Bates) of Louisa, VA; special friends and caregivers, Rita, Dawn, Aunt Tee, Eve, Debbie, Wendy, Kristie, Twanda Crystal, Gloria, Carlene, Shirl, Kristin, Torrey, Mary Alice and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Cathy loved studying the Bible and praising God. She often went out of her way to show love and concern for others.

Cathy will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, December 19, 2016 at Zion Travelers Baptist Church 3662 Roundabout Road Louisa, VA 23093 with Rev. Austin G. Bates, officiating. Interment will follow in the Burruss Family Cemetery.
