Charlottesville - Cassandra Evangeline Harris, affectionately known as Sandy , entered eternal rest on March 24, 2024, at the age of 59. She was born on October 25, 1964, to the late Lawrence Harris Jr. and Joyce Ann Matthews Harris.
Sandy was a vibrant soul who illuminated every room she entered with her infectious smile and loving spirit. She was a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) until her health declined, touching the lives of many with her compassionate care.
Beyond her career, Sandy had a passion for 90s and 2000s R&B music, and her nails were a true masterpiece of art. She found joy in watching the Lifetime movie channel and cherished moments spent with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Harris Jr. and Joyce Ann Matthews Harris; her sister, Cecilia Harris, aunt Ramona Dell (Harris) Poindexter and great-niece Alexis Thompson. Sandy leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, forever cherished by her children, Jermaine, Prontia, Maximillion, and Kadisha. She was a loving grandmother to Jaesaun, Laniyah, Jermaine Jr., Martel Jr., Amelyah, Giavanna, and Milani.
Sandy is also survived by her brother, Garard Harris and sister-in-law Sabrina, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was especially close to her devoted niece, Victoria Harris. Sandy referred to Victoria as "her voice" for the simple reason she knew she was in good hands. Vicki didn't play when it came to her aunt.
Her memory will be treasured by her aunts, Linda Brown (Bobby), Teresa Baskfield, Marilyn Green (Larry), Carolyn Jackson, Irmay (May) Harris, Hazel Matthews, and Mildred Matthews, as well as her uncles, Thomas Matthews Jr., Mack Poindexter, and Henry Harris (Christine).
A celebration of Sandy's life will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 1:00 pm at The Sun Chapel @ D. D. Watson , Louisa VA; burial following at Byrd Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be no Repast.
Sandy's radiant spirit, loving nature, and joyful presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Special thanks to UVA 4 MICU for their devotional care.
