A Time to be Born: Ecclesiastes 3:2 Carvie Mason Jr. was born to the late Carvie McKinley Mason Sr. and Thelma Izetta Wrenn Mason, in Louisa, Virginia on June 5, 1928.

A Time to Plant and a Time to Uproot:He was inducted into the Field Artillery Branch of the United States Army in 1950 and served duty in Alabama, Louisiana, and Germany for two years.

A Time to Love: Ecclesiastes 3:8 Carvie was united in holy matrimony to Miss Alma Gae Hughes on June 09, 1956. Out of this union was born one daughter, Pamela Gayle and one son, Carvie Jerome.

A Time to Live: Ecclesiastes 5:4 He attended Louisa County Training School, where he received his high school diploma in 1946. By 1950, Carvie had matriculated at Virginia Union University, Richmond, VA, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He received his Master of Arts in Counselor Education from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, in 1971.

A Time to Serve: Hosea 10:12 He was a member, pianist, and organist of the First Baptist Church of Louisa for over 50 years. He was a Past Master of Prospect 121. He has received a Certificate of Honor from M.W.P.H. Grand Lodge of Virginia for 38 years of service and Sunday School teacher.

A Time to Embrace: Ecclesiastes 3:5 Upon returning as a teacher and guidance counselor for 39 years in the Louisa County School system, he retired in June of 1989.Carvie was a very distinguish person, a caring individual for all people. He touched the heart of many of his students. He was a devoted father and husband.

A Time to Die: Revelation 14:13 Carvie Mckinley Mason departed this life on Friday, June 18, 2010 at 5:16 p.m. at the Bon Secours Memorial Hospital, Mechanicsville, Virginia.He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved, devoted wife of 54 years, Alma H. Mason; a daughter, Pamela Gayle; a son Carvie Jerome ( Tressy ) and a god-given adopted son, Thomas William all of Louisa, Virginia. Two grandchildren, Wayne Andrew (Teleda) of Fort Leonardwood, MO and Bryant (SueJi) of Fort Lewis, Washington; three great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Alivia, and Jaden and adpoted daughter, Margie Lucas. His brother, Joseph W. Mason preceded him in death. He also leaves to mourn, 5 sisters-in-law, Erlener Mason, Louisa,Virginia. Dorothy Myles and Fannie Johnson of Buckner, Virginia, Florence Cheatham, Chesterfield, Virginia and Margaret Davis of Philadelphia, Pa.; two aunts, Lottie Willis (Tucker) of Antioch, Tennessee and Alzeta Wrenn of Oxon Hill, Maryland; nephew, William Mason (Jewel) of Keswick, Virginia; two nieces, JoAnn Mason (James) of Hampton, Virginia and Cassandra Richardson (Lewis) of South Carolina and host of cousins, other nieces and many, many, many devoted friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at First Baptist Church, Louisa, Virginia.  Reverend Bruce S. Jones will be officiating and burial with masonic rites and Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.
