Carrie Ann Barney Shelton was born to the late Smyer Barney, Sr. and the late Frances Lindsay Barney on October 24, 1935.
On the morning of December 15, 2015 at the University of Virginia hospital, Ann slipped from time and entered into eternity.
Carrie attended public schools in Louisa and was employed as a domestic engineer for the Sacra family in Mineral and she was an employee at the Mineral Bakery. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and keeping the family together.
Ann was joined in holy matrimony to the late William Henry Shelton, Sr. God blessed this union with two children.
Carrie accepted Christ as her personal Savior, was baptized and joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church, early in life.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her siblings: Charles Barney, Smyer Barney, Jr., Julia Shelton, and Margie Moore.
She leaves to cherish her love and memory her beloved and devoted daughter, Patricia Ann Waller (Robert); her caring and compassionate son, William Henry Shelton, Jr. (Janice); five grandsons: Barney Ray Smith, Edward Collin Smith, Jr., Brandon Terrell Smith, Bryan O'Neal Shelton, and William Henry Shelton, III; two brothers: James Barney and Riley Barney (Sheree); three brothers-in-law: Curtis Shelton, Wilbert Moore, and Lesley Shelton; three sisters- in-law: Grace Shelton, Mary Shelton, and Katie Barney; five great grandsons; two great granddaughters; two great-great- grandsons; three devoted cousins: Maryetta, Packerd, and Berry Boxley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Ebenezer Baptist Church 864 Pendleton Road Mineral, VA 23117 with Rev. William House, III officiating. Interment will follow in the Shelton Family Cemetery.
