Calvin Ronnie Washington Sr, 51, of Troy, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 16, 2010, at his residence in Charlottesville, VA.

He was born September 14, 1958. He was a long time employee of Delaney Flush of Charlottesville, VA. He was the founder of the gospel group "Gospel Believers" and also frequently duoed with his sister, the late Reverend Betty Jane Creasy. His favorite pastime were singing, spending time with his grandchildren, playing his guitar and helping anyone that he could. He would always be seen with a smile on his face and in his high school days was known as "smiley" a name he was called as a football player. Mr. Washington was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father Nancy and Thomas Washington, Sr.; sisters Rev. Betty Jane Creasy, Mary Christmas, Annette Christmas, and Eve Christmas and one brother Thomas George Washington, Jr. He is survived by his son, Calvin Ronnie Washington Jr. and his wife Tammy; his daughter Letisha Annette Washington; seven grandchildren, Tameron, Ciera, Zamar, Darien, Evan, Khaliyah and Jason Washington. He is also survived by three beloved sisters, Elsie Roberts, Kathleen Johnson, Cassandra Thomas and her husband Anson; four brothers, James Washington and his wife Diane, Thomas Washington and his wife Bertha, Stanley Washington and his wife Karen, and Ralph Washington and his wife Gloria, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Springfield Baptist Church, 1042 Zion Road Troy, VA 22974 with the Rev. Victor L. Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Washington Family Cemetery.
