Calvin Gregory Harris, 51, of Louisa, Virginia, departed this life on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in Louisa, Virginia. He was born on April 6, 1962, in Louisa County to Mildred Harris and the late Frank Harris, Sr. Calvin was affectionately known by "Cat" to his family, friends, and those in the community who knew him. "Cat" grew up in Louisa County where he could be found working on cars, telling jokes, or just being "Cat". He became a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church at a young age. He was educated in the Louisa County Public School system.


"Cat" was preceded in death by his father, Frank Harris, Sr.; maternal grandfather and grandmother, Paul and Dorothy Thurston; paternal grandmother, Laura Harris; paternal grandfather, James Winston; maternal aunt, Lillie Mae Berkeley; maternal uncle, Clarence Thurston, Sr. and paternal uncle, Richard Harris.

"Cat" left to cherish his memory, his mother, Mildred Harris; two daughters, who he loved and cherished, Danielle Johnson (Richmond), and Tatyana Harris (Louisa); two grandchildren, Khia Johnson and Kayla Johnson; a brother, Frank Harris, Jr. and wife, Tammy Harris; four sisters, Diane Christmas and husband, Ronald Christmas, Sr., Janice Harris, Karen Harris, all of Louisa and Renee Richardson and husband, Antonio Richardson of Maryland and a step-mother, Nancy Harris of Maryland. Cat also leaves to cherish his memory a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, July 7, 2013 in Laurel Hill Baptist Church, 7652 Kentucky Springs Road, Mineral, VA 23117 with the Rev. Barry Carpenter, officiating. Interment will follow in the Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
